A Summer Art Workshop
Other kids go for sports this summer, some go for music and dancing, others go for acting and speech while some choose Visual Arts.

Cebu Lodge sponsored a Summer Art Workshop for children aged 6-12 years old. The main objectives of this workshop are to discover if not enhance the art skills of the kids and to teach them the basics in visual arts. It also introduced visual art as a means to express themselves and to boost their level of confidence.

This month long art activity was made possible by UP Fine Arts Alumni Association and PUSOD, Inc. who shared their expertise with the kids. Worshipful Master Douglas S. Tan, a UP Cebu Fine Arts graduate assisted in the session.

All sessions were held every Tues and Thurs morning at the Cebu Masonic Hall under their supervision. Sessions were divided into 2 classes based on children’s level of art knowledge. The first class was for Art and Crafts Appreciation for Kids while the other class was for Basic Drawing and Painting.

Kids were very fortunate to have with them Prof. “Sio” Montera from the UP College of Fine Arts as one of the resource persons. Prof. Montera is a well known Visual Art Professor in Cebu and a winner of GSIS’ National Art contest recently. Being a UP professor, it brings with him years of visual art experience which he freely shared to the kids.

This was a first time activity initiated by the Lodge and plans to make this as an annual event for continuity is now being considered.
